- Characteristics: one-piece beam with trailing arms
- Helper springs: often installed inside or above coil spring
Semi-Trailing Arm with Coil Springs
- Common in: older cars, some imports
- Characteristics: independent suspension with angled trailing arms
- Helper springs: fitted near or on top of existing coils
Multi-Link Rear Suspension
- Common in: modern sedans, crossovers, EVs (e.g. Ford Escape, RAV4, Tesla)
- Characteristics: multiple control arms per wheel for comfort and handling
- Helper springs: installation depends on spring location and space
